New Year 2007 in China, Chinese New Year 2007

Staring with the New Moon on the first day of the New Year, Chinese New Year lasts as long as for 15 days. Ending with children displaying lanterns on the fifteenth day, the fifteenth day is known as "The Lantern Day". Holding family reunions, New Year in China usually means a family affair. Traditionally New Year in China were marked with a religious ceremony given in honor of Heaven and Earth along with the Gods of household and family ancestors.

New Year in China are incomplete without acknowledging the presence of the ancestors and this is done by a ritual called "The sacrifice to the ancestors". Wearing red clothes, decorations with poems on red paper and everything associated with red, the color symbolizing fire and a source to drive away bad luck is part and parcel of the New Year in China.

Chinese are the first ones to ensure every measure to bring in the good luck in the New Year. Sweeping the floors, avoiding quarreling and cleaning the garbage are some of the activities done in order to bring in the good luck and wealth in New Year. Sharing New Year's Eve Dinner, watching and participating in dragon dancing, lion dancing and folk activities are the other most popular ways to celebrate New Year in China.
