New Year 2007 in Tibet, Chinese New Year 2007

Usher in the New Year in a religious way by participating in the New Year in Tibet. Celebrated in the month of February, "Losar", the Tibetan New Year is known as the great prayer festival. In the ancient times seeing the peach tree in full blossom marked the beginning of the New Year. But later with the systematization of the Tibetan calendar in 1027 A.D., the first day of the first month was fixed as the New Year's Day.

New Year in Tibet can't be imagined without a visit to the holy temples. Tibetans celebrate the New Year in a traditional way with lamas wearing colorful masks and costumes and playing instruments, sitting in front of the monastery in Tibet. Dancing, singing, chanting auspicious words like "tashi delek" and families reuniting to attend auspicious dinner are part of the New Year in Tibet.
